Summary
An elm and beech open low armchair, Welsh or English, mid-19th century. The arched toprail above a pair of shaped horizontal splats, each carved to their bottom edge with a pair of stylised leafy scrolls. With shaped elm seats and raised on four turned and ring-turned legs joined by a conforming 'H'-shaped stretcher. With traces of paint.
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
