Summary
A marble-topped rosewood side table, English, circa 1830. The grey-veined white marble slab above rosewood-veneered friezes, the bottom edge with applied rectangular-section cockbead. Raised to the front on a pair of giltwood acanthus-carved supports, with applied gilt composition flowerheads. The scroll feet issuing further scrolls and fans. Raised to the back on a pair of rosewood-veneered pilasters flanking a mirror plate. The base concave-fronted, rosewood-veneered and with egg and dart-carved edge.
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
