Summary
A beechwood and cane Nursery Yacht, or child's double rocking chair, or see-saw, English, circa 1852. Bearing a metal label for John Hughes of Kent, and the registration of this design on 2 January 1852. At each end a cane-seated chair with a back of turned spindles, and at the centre a further seat. The footrests carpet-lined, and with various handholds and rails. Raised on curving rockers. -- John Hughes was of 5 Boone Street, Lee, Kent.
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
