Summary
Curtain fragment. Fragment of glazed, plain weave cotton curtain, roller printed in black, grey, pale blue, two shades of turquoise, green, two shades of pink, red and two shades of beige. The design is of naturally drawn flower sprays, including polyanthus and cyclamen on a dotted flower and stem ground. The repeat is 45 cm across the loom width. The fragment is patched and darned, has machine chain stitching as well as unpicked stitching and is cut on four sides. Circa 1860.
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
