Summary
A washstand, part of a good quality near set of four pieces of bedroom furniture, comprising a wardrobe, a chest and a dressing table, English, circa 1870. The wardrobe NT 147153.1; the dressing table NT 1147153.2; the chest of drawers NT 1147153.4. Of figured walnut, the top of grey-veined white marble, and with three-quarter gallery with shaped sides. The frieze fitted with two drawers with ebonized edge mouldings and turned walnut knobs. Raised on four turned legs fitted with brass and brown ceramic castors.
Provenance
Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
