Summary
A rosewood bagatelle table, English, circa 1835. By Frederick George Lynn (fl. 1840) of Liverpool. The sloping board within a low gallery, and fitted with peg holes and slots. With two painted score slides, painted black on white. On opposing baluster and ring-turned legs fitted with brass caps and castors. Together with original pair of cues, balls, pegs, hoops, manuscripts and score sheets. -- Frederick George Lynn (fl. 1840) was described in the London Gazette of 1843 (when he was 32) as 'late a lodger at No. 31 Brownlow-hill, and occupying Sale-rooms, No. 43, Ranelagh-street, both of Liverpool, Lancashire, Auctioneer, Cabinet Maker and Upholsterer.' At the time, he was in Lancaster Gaol for debt. Later, he was described as 'formerly of No. 7, Bold street, then of No. 41, Russell-street, afterwards of same place, and occupying Workshops in Seele-street, all in Liverpool, Lancashire, Cabinet Maker and Upholsterer, afterwards of Mulberry-place, Myrtle-street South, Liverpool aforesaid, and occupying Sale-rooms, No. 43, Ranelagh-Street, Liverpool aforesaid, at the same time occupying a Shop, No. 42, Dale-street, Liverpool aforesaid, Cigar Dealer, Auctioneer, Cabinet Maker, Upholsterer, and Agent for Shillibeer's Patent Funeral Carriages.'
