Summary
A walnut-framed child's chair, English or Welsh, circa 1870, the woolen needlework probably worked by Victoria Yorke (1823-95), wife of Simon Yorke III (1811-1894). The back panel is covered in woolen needlework of flowers and leaves, between block and spiral-turned rear uprights. The seat is covered in conforming needlework and raised on moulded cabriole front legs.
Provenance
Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
