Summary
A carved oak bijouterie table, or display table, English, late 19th/early 20th century, but using earlier - 17th century - timbers. The hinged top with glass panel within a foliate-carved moulded border, enclosing a velvet-lined interior. The table's friezes carved with leafy 'S' scrolls above an egg and dart-carved moulding. Raised on four baluster- and column-turned legs joined by a platform stretchers and terminating in pear feet.
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
