Summary
Chamber pot. A chamber pot decorated with blue/white transfer printed pastoral scenes. The pattern is from a series with the title 'Humphrey's Clock', based on a weekly periodical 'Master Humphrey's Clock', which was written and edited by Charles Dickens, published from the 4th of April 1840 to the 4th of December 1841. This scene is from 'The Old Curiosity Shop' and depicts 'Nell's Garden'.
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
