Summary
Covered jar. One of a pair of large Japanese Imari porcelain covered jars of baluster form with high domed lids and shishi lion finials, painted in blue, red, green, pink and purple, with one flying and one perching eagle among flowering branches, with 'ruyi' panels of flowers above and below, divided by roundels of dragons and hares, on a decorated wood stand.
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
