Summary
Harvest wagon, wooden, painted blue and maroon, marked MRS.VAN.RALTE, BROWNSEA ISLAND. With miscellanous items inside the wagon including a wheel and pieces of wood. This is a heavy duty farm wagon, with an undercarriage strong enough to withstand being dragged through deep mud in winter. The carrying capacity would be 2 1/2 tonnes. Construction materials were oak, ash and elm, with cast iron being used for the axles, (from the 1840's onwards) tyres and fastenings.
