Summary
Ceramic, Parian ware, Diana Robing (or Diana de Gabies) manufactured by Copeland. Standing female figure in classical costume and headwear. 'Ceramic and Crystal Palace Art Union / Malempres Reduction 1866 / Copeland A' impressed around the base. The original classical statue was excavated by Gavin Hamilton in 1792 at Gabii, outside Rome and is now in the Louvre. According to Bieber the statue is generally recognised as a copy of the image made by Praxiteles for the Temple of Artemis Brauronia on the Acropolis, Athens.
