Summary
Portrait miniature, tempera painting on vellum, An Unknown Lady in a Blue Dress possibly Lady Sydenham by Samuel Cooper (London 1608 – London 1672). Oval. Head and shoulders portrait, turned slightly to the left, gazing at the spectator in a blue slashed dress with scalloped border and dark grey shawl, pearl necklace and double pearl ear-drops. Dark green-blue eyes, light brown hair in ringlets with blue bow and flowers on top, pale (faded) complexion, aged 25 to 30. Black background with seashore and sky to left, lit from the right.
