Summary
Portrait miniature, enamel, Anna Maria Lewis, Countess of Dysart (1745-1804) (after Sir Joshua Reynolds) by Henry Bone, RA (Truro 1755 – Somers Town, London 1834). Oval. 1809. Half-length portrait, turned slightly to right, gazing to the right, in a white dress, purple belt and yellow sash over the right shoulder. Blue eyes, long fair hair, curled, plaited on top and dressed with pearls and blue ribbon, pink face, looking about 19, but in fact 28. Tree and sky background lit from the left.
Marks and inscriptions
The frame is engraved 'Maria, Countess of Dysart died at Ham House, Sept. 1804. An inscription on the reverse reads Countess of Dysart/ married Feb 4th 1773 to the Hon Wilbraham Tollemarche - who was Earl of Dysart on the Death of his brother in 1779 - Henry Bone
