Summary
Curved oak staircase; starting at middle floor level and terminating at turret level. Each flight of stairs and landing is constructed of oak and built around a central oak structure consisting of a number of octagonal vertical joined beams reaching the full height of the staircase. On each landing there is an oak construction dividing one side of the staircase from the other. In some places this is made up of solid vertical planks and in others an open oak balustrade. The first flight of stairs rises south to north with a small landing midway. It ends at a wider landing, turning and rising north to south and ending on the landing at top floor level. A staircase then rises south to north and curves, rising north to south ending at a landing at attic floor level. Another staircase rises south to north, curves and rises again north to south to a midway landing where it rises again south to north and terminates at the North turret.
