Summary
Decorative fireplace and overmantel: The fireplace is stone with decorative features including carved pilasters flanking the fire opening and carved frieze above. In the centre of the plasterwork overmantel is the following inscription "THE CONCLVSION OF ALL THINGES IS TO FEARE GOD AND KEEPE HIS COMMANDEMENTES." This inscription is framed within a design of strapwork and scroll work in relief, highlighted with black and gold. On either side of the inscription are two grotesque faces and two figures in cornucopia. Flanking the whole scheme are two large figures entwined within the strapwork and draped fabric, each holding a vase of flowers . Below all of this in the centre is the date 1597 with the monogram "ES" within it and a coronet above.
