Summary
One of five applique needlework pilasters from wall hanging composed of applique fabrics and embroidery. Large volutes above sharply tapered hollow stem on small base. Capital above narrow frieze with three triglyphs. HHE/T/277a and c have crimson embroidered volutes on yellow ground, gold thread over yellow and crimson on stem and capital. French knots around edge of volutes. HHE/T/277d mainly yellow and gold. Santina M. Levey (2007) identifies 277d as coming from the lost Cleopatra hanging, part of the Noble Women set.
