Summary
One of two needlework door curtains. One of two unlined curtains, each comprising of five selvedge widths of plain weave wool fabric embroidered(?) with geometric and border patterns. The widths of fabric are joined decoratively in openwork seams, using plain faggoting or twisted insertion stitch worked in coloured wool yarns. The top edge of each component fabric width features a self fringe, and is folded over, with the excess fabric falling over the reverse curtain to a depth of up to 70cms. Metal rings have been stitched at intervals along the fold lines, allowing the curtains to be suspended from metal poles. At the lower edge each component fabric width is turned in a hem (of varying depth) to finish.
