Summary
An ebonized and parcel-gilt pole screen stand, the upright topped by a horizontal bar, and raised on a cruciform base with scrolling 'S'-form brackets, with decorative chamfers throughout, and traces of parcel-gilt lines. Compare 1127431, 1127434 & 1127438.
Provenance
By descent until, following the death of Edward William Spencer Cavendish, 10th Duke of Devonshire (1895 - 1950), Hardwick Hall and its contents were accepted by HM Treasury in part payment of death duties and transferred to the National Trust, in 1959.
