Summary
A foolscap sized paper and linen weave envelope. The once sealed, black edged envelope, has been cut open on three sides to form an open folder containing numerous letters addressed to Mr. H. W. Stone along with letters, papers, newspaper cuttings and photographs pertaining to; Mrs George Gibbs C.B.E. The front of this make-shift folder, handwritten in ink, lists its contents and is titled; Special Appreciations from Organizations & comprising / activities of last few years. There are contributions listed from; British Red Cross Society / Soldiers & Sailors' Families' Association / Bristol War Pensions Committee / Bristol Sailors' Home / National Nautical School, Portishead / National Unionist Association (Women's Advisory Council) / The Doreen Hut, Wraxall / Royal Colonial Institute - Bristol Branch - Ladies' House & Social Committee / Mrs. Gibb's Wraxall Activities / Queen Mary's Needlework Guild : Bristol Branch. All date after Mrs. George Gibbs' death and were used as source material for (NT3143763) - Via Gibbs - a memoir by Madeline Alston.
