Summary
A metal structure in the shape of a dodecahedron, with twelve faces formed from adjoining rings of metal, soldered together and linked internally with lengths of rigid wire. Painted grey. Attributed to Matthew Frere-Smith (1923-1999).
Full description
This small sculpture is very close in its style of construction to Matthew Frere-Smith’s untitled sculpture in the form of a lattice work of metal rods connected by rigid wires, also at 2 Willow Road (NT 112573). Frere-Smith exhibited a number of tetrahedron and dodecahedron sculptures at exhibitions at the Alwin and Drian galleries between 1965 and 1967. Jeremy Warren, 2018

Owned by Ernö Goldfinger and Ursula Ruth Blackwell, also known as Mrs Ernö Goldfinger. Purchased by the National Trust in 1994.
