Summary
A birch stacking stool, Stool 60, designed by Alvar Aalto, circa 1932-33, the circular laminate birch top supported on three square-section legs curved at the top, screwed to the underside of the seat. Probably made by Artek, the company founded in 1935 by Alvar and Aino Aalto, and others, to sell and promote Alvar Alto's designs.
Provenance
Owned by Ernö Goldfinger and Ursula Ruth Blackwell, also known as Mrs Ernö Goldfinger. Purchased by the National Trust in 1994.
