Provenance
Worn by William Terris as 'Henry VIII' in HENRY VIII. William Terris was stabbed outside the stage door of the Adelphi Theatre in London in 1897 by a crazed actor with an imaginary grievance. Irving felt that as an actor, his murder would be unavenged and his murderer would not be executed.
