Victorian gilt metal anad imitation pearl brooch circca 1850 fashioned as a large spray of convollvulus-lie leaves with lines of grafuated imitation perals, Worn by Ellen Terry in her role as Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing. (Contained in jewel box (11178 together with items 1117807, 1117808 and 1117810 - 15). Report by John Benjamin Honorary Jewellery Advisor August 2021.
Provenance
Believed to have been owned by or given to Ellen Terry (1847-1928) or her daughter Edith Craig (1869-1947) and came to the National Trust in 1939 when Edith Craig transferred Smallhythe Place (including buildings, land and contents) to the Trust.
