Early 19th century cut steel necklace circa 1800 composed of a series of arched sections with simulated pearl and cut steel quatrefoil clusters and suspending below a series of elongated simulated pearl tear drops. One drop deficient. Report by John Benjamin Honorary Jewellery Advisor August 2021. Worn by Ellen Terry in her role as The Hon.Sylvia Wynford in 'The Medicine Man' in 1898. Item in its original brown leather fitted case.
Provenance
Believed to have been owned by or given to Ellen Terry (1847-1928) or her daughter Edith Craig (1869-1947) and came to the National Trust in 1939 when Edith Craig transferred Smallhythe Place (including buildings, land and contents) to the Trust.
