Summary
A pair of painted cast-iron andirons, 16th century Venetian style. Cast with satires surmounting leaf-cast baluster and urn-shaped stems, flanked by gryphons and foliate brackets and decorated with swags, paterae and masks on pierced foliate bases mounted with putti and caryatids, on scrolled gryphon feet.

Purchased from the estate of the late Lord Wraxall with the assistance of the NHMF and donations from members and supporters.
