Sculpture, bronze, Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936) by Patrick Synge Hutchinson (b.1910). A bronze cast of Rudyard Kipling, presented to Sir Winston on his 80th Birthday by the Royal Society of St. George on square plinth by Patrick Synge Hutchinson 1936. Author and poet; son of John Lockwood Kipling (1837-1911) and Alice Macdonald; married Caroline Starr Balestier (1862-1939). They had three children: (i) Josephine Kipling (1892-1899) (ii) Elsie Kipling, Mrs George Bambridge (1896 – 1976) (iii) John Kipling (1897- killed in action 1915)

Front: Inscribed: "Presented to the Rt. Honorable Sir Winston Churchill K.G. O.M. C.H. MP by the council and members of the Royal Society of St. George on his 80th Birthday. Rudyard Kipling... ... One sang of the British Empire, the other saved it".
