A glass display case containing a stuffed Bittern (Botaurus), part of the Heron family (Botauridae: Heron family is Ardeidae). Shot at Kedleston, in 1895. The case contains plants surrounding the Bittern. The interior back of the case is painted as sky.

Purchased in 1987 by the National Trust from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000).
