Summary
A pair of rosewood grained beech and brass-inlaid sofas, probably supplied by Gamble & Bridgen, 15 Irongate, Derby; cabinet makers and upholders (fl.1809–35) circa 1810. With scrolled arms inlaid with scrolling arabesques and raised on turned tapered legs and brass castors. Loose seat cushion, all later upholstered in a striped textile.
Provenance
Purchased in 1987 by the National Trust from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000).
