Summary
Pair of Indian man’s shoes. Leather sole. Leather uppers densely embroidered with metal thread now discoloured to greyish blue. Some evidence of coloured threads e.g. red and green over toe area. The top edge was originally bound with coloured thread. Lined with red wool with squares of green and purple with metal thread embroidery. Found in Burmese Poongyi Box No.441 (V & A Catalogue 1927). Condition: poor condition. Miss-shaped, rigid, metal thread tarnished and discoloured to blue-grey. Damage to embroidered threads. Soles are complete and sound.
