Summary
Decorative plaster ceiling, designed by Robert Adam. Inspired by the Pantheon on Rome, the ceiling is a domed rotunda with a domed glass skylight in the centre. The ceiling is coffered with octagonal compartments and rosettes, inspired by the Basilica of Maxentius. There are four half-domed alcoves below the main ceiling which have diamond shaped coffering inspired by the Temple of Venus in the Rome Forum. The whole is painted white and gold.
