Summary
Decorative plaster ceiling, designed by Robert Adam and made by Joseph Rose. The ceiling is semi-domed with large sloping borders surrounding a large rectangular central section. The borders are filled with foliage, while the central section is divided into three, containing acanthus scrolls and a large ceiling rose in the middle. The ceiling is painted pink, blue, white and gold. The projecting entablature is decorated in the Corinthian style with sculptured mouldings such as decorated modillions (projecting brackets) and dentils ("little teeth"), as well as egg and dart decoration.
