Summary
A carved ivory shrine containing the Mother Goddess (Jagadhatri), from Murshidabad, Bengal. She is shown with ten arms and standing on a lion that is attacking a man that has killed a bull, the head of which is on the ground. The goddess is surrounded by four attendants; one of them is an elephant (Probably Ganesh, though Jagadhatri is also as the guardian from the elephant demon Mahisa ?). The shrine stands on a base, which has a pierced underside. 'A carved ivory shrine, containing the figures of Jagadhatri and other deities - Murshidabad, Bengal' (Christie's entry)
