Summary
A mirror back probably from Istanbul, Turkey. It is a foliated disc shape and has a repoussé pine cone motif in the centre with a border of alternating pine cones and garlands containing two crossed arrows. 'Two Turkish siver repoussé leaf-shaped mirror backs - Constantinople' (Christie's entry)
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
