Summary
A Tibetan silver spoon. The spoon has an inlay of four stones that represent a double vajra motif. This is probably a tsok spoon; the word 'tsok' means feast and would have been used in rituals to symbolically hand out blessed food. 'A Tibetan partly gilt silver spoon set with turquoises, for ecclesiastical use' (Christie's entry)
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
