Summary
A rosewood table with ivory inlay, Mysore, late 19th century. The table top is octagonal in shape with wooden droplets around the edge. The table has four legs, which are connected in the centre with a finial. The table is inlaid with ivory throughout and makes various geometric and floral patterns. The ivory has been ornamented with black designs, which is particular to Mysore. 'A rosewood ivory-inlaid table - Mysore' (Christie's entry)
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
