Summary
A silver casket on a wooden base from Mysore. The rectangular casket has the Curzon and Royal coat-of-arms on one side and a panel with an inscription from the donor. On the shortest sides of the casket there is a panel with a two-headed phoenix. The lid is hinged and has a bird handle. 'A silver casket, containing an address from the Municipality of Mysore' (Christie's entry)
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
