Summary
A Chinese scroll painting on silk. The painting is a blue and green landscape and depicts a house; in one of the rooms a gentleman is teaching calligraphy to his two pupils, in another room a servant is approaching with a bowl. In the top left corner there is a poem. 'A scroll painting on silk within a silk brocade border' (Christie's entry)
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
