Summary
A square mahogany stand for a Chinese famille rose pilgrim flask. It has a cloud carving in the top corners of each of the sides; the base is angular with a geometric border. On two of the sides, there are handle grips carved into the wood. 'A pair of Chinese famille rose yellow-ground pilgrim bottles' (Christie's entry)
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
