Summary
A teak vanity box with ivory inlay from Hushiarpur. The ivory inlay is made into a swirling floral pattern that is also repeated in the interior of the box, which also has a mirror. This piece was bought at the India Exhibition at Delhi in 1903. 'A large wood casket inlaid with ivory' (Christie's entry)
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
