Summary
A walking wooden stick from Manipur, India. The handle is in the shape of a feline head and has ivory inlay for the four fangs and eyes. The shaft is made from strips of betel nut, which is then bound down the entire length of the stick. The ferrule is made of steel and has an accentuated tip. Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
