Summary
An address case of green velvet with gold embroidery. On one side the embroidery reads; M.A.O College Aligarh H.E the Right Honorable Lord Curzon G.M.S.I (ampresand) G.M.I.E and on the reverse it has a series of quadrafoil flowers made from sequins. On both sides there is an intricate border of a swirling floral motif. It was made to contain an address from the Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College of Aligarh (missing). The lining is made of a pale cream satin. 'A gold-embroidered velvet case containing an address from the Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College of Aligarh' (Christie's entry)
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
