Summary
An address given by the Talukdars of Oudh on the occasion of Lord Curzon becoming Viceroy. It consists of a printed piece of silk, surround by an intricate border of geometric patterns and swirling floral motif. The back is covered in plain red silk. 'An Indian gold-embroidered velvet case, for an address from the Talukdars of Oudh (with translation)' (Christie's entry).
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
