Summary
A Tablet of carved ivory with red pigment depicting the Chinese character 'shou', which means longevity. The table comes from Hue the capital of Annam province in Vietnam. 'Tablet of ivory, carved with the character 'show' (Longevity), and partly stained. Annamite (Hue)' (Christie's entry)

Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
