Summary
One of a pair of Japanese chopsticks made from rosewood. Japanese chopsticks are different from those from China or Korea; they are shorter and have a pointed tip. Chinese chopsticks tend to have a blunt circular tip and are much longer, while Korean chopsticks are usually made from metal and are slim and flat.
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
