Summary
A Tibetan brass and leather flint case with steel flint. The brass decoration shows openwork of birds and a double faced dragon as its loop. The flint has a crude Chinese character chiselled into the centre. 'A flint-case and steel with brass handle - Tibetan (Sikkim)' (Christie's entry)
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
