Summary
A pair of wig-stands that were made for export. They are made of lacquer with an inlay floral pattern of mother-of-pearl. The design points to them having been made in India. 'A pair of inlaid lacquer wig-stands (damaged)' (Christie's entry)
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
