Summary

Basic shaft for an arrow that has yet to have its fletching and point attached. It would have been used by the Mishmi tribe, who reside along the border of Eastern Bengal and Assam. 'An Assamese Frontier leather-covered wood quiver containing eight arrows - Mishmi Tribes' (Christie's entry)

Provenance

Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
