Summary
A set of four ceremonial lances used by the Naga Tribe. The shaft is decorated with goat's hair that has been dyed red and black and is secured using string made from cane. 'Four Assamese steel-heeded lances, the shafts decorated with dyed hair secured by plaited cane - Naga Tribes' (Christie's entry)
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
