Summary
Basket with flat back. It uses a variety of basketry techniques such as stake and strand and twining. The decoration is made from long tufts of grass with strings of seeds. 'An Assamese wickerwork basket decorated with pendants of seeds and grasses' (Christie's entry)
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
